When Rehman sold his sister’s jewels!
“There was a stable change in my life after 1989. My mother gave me the jewels of my sister, which were meant for her marriage. I sold those jewels and with the 4 lakh rupees I got through the sale, I had set up the latest sound recorder-cum-mixer and established a small recording studio. I have never looked back after that. This is an unforgettable moment in my life,” said music legend A R Rehman emotionally.
Rehman was speaking at the release of ‘A R Rehman-the spirit of music,’ a book on his life by well known film chronicler Nasrin Munnni Kabir. The book was released by noted director Mani Ratnam in Mumbai.

Mallika challenges Katrina
Move over Munni and Sheila, Shalu is here. In what seems like an open challenge thrown at Malaika Arora Khan and Katrina Kaif, Mallika Sherawat shot for an item song on Wednesday whose words blatantly mocked Katrina and Malaika's twin triumphs. Mallika sang, "Munni bhi maani aur Sheila bhi maani, Shalu ke thumke ki duniya deewani."
Apparently the Munni and Sheila choreographer was approached to do Mallika's Shalu ke thumke. But Farah Khan begged off saying she only choreographs for very close family friends.
According to a source, the lyrics of the song were originally quite different. "By openly singing that she's better than Munni and Sheila, Mallika is sending out a clear message. It was the actress who wanted the Munni-Sheila element incorporated into the song. Composer Anand Raj Anand modified the tune accordingly. Mallika wants to position herself as the
no 1 item queen of Bollywood. She feels her Maiyya Maiyya in Guru came long before My Name is Sheila and Munni Badnaam. This year she has already performed two item songs. And is open to more.

So, Preity Zinta ready to share her Kings XI?
It was rumoured that Preity Zinta and Ness Wadia the co owners of Kings XI were doing away with the stakes. However, the bubbly actress made it clear that she was not selling away the team with which she has been associated for a long time.
While reiterating her long association with Kings XI, she affirmed that she cannot do away with it completely. Having nurtured it so long it will be impossible for her to think in terms of a total dissociation. She did not over rule the possibility of offloading a part of the share. Preity’s association with the team dates back to 2008, when she secured the legal right to own the team. Her partner and industrialist Ness Wadia was also a party to the stake.
The actress believes that controversial issues dogging the IPL will be settled in its own course and as such she has nothing to fear. Incidentally, the duo has come clear of all accusations against them.
