Aishwarya Rai is the new dream girl

Written By moveeland on Friday, 22 April 2011 | 8:31 am

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will play Dream Girl in Sriram Raghavan's film of that title. The epithet of Dream Girl was so far reserved only for Hema Malini.

The former Miss World seems more deserving of the crown of being the Dream Girl amongst the actress of the new millennium.

Sriram, who is busy with Agent Vinod at the moment, will work on this project as soon as he gets free. Abhishek's buddy Rohan Sippy is the producer of the film. John Abraham comes together with Aishwarya for the first time, a pairing that he has been looking forward to ever since she opted out of Dostana. Another film titled Happy New Year with John and Aishwarya was never made.

Rohan confirms, "It's too early to reveal the cast. The project is tentatively called Dream Girl." When asked about Aishwarya, Rohan reveals. "Well, if anyone in the current lot of actors can play this role, it is Aishwarya. Sriram has her and John in mind." One wondershow Hema the original Dream Girl feels about her new screen avatar. When asked who after her could be considered the Dream Girl, Hema promptly replied Aishwarya.

ALL EYES on Shruti

Shruti Haasan has become quite a regular in Hyderabad. (And why not? Remember the Siddharth connect?) So she was at this promotional event of Siddharth’s latest film (see, we told you). The film’s cast, including leading ladies Priya Anand and Nithya Menon, were very much present at the event but what brightened Sidharth’s face was the entry of Shruti Haasan. And as they exchanged smiles and glances, all eyes turned to Shruti. But the duo was quick to mingle with others. It was interesting to hear most of the stars very comfortably conversing in Telugu. The guests appreciated director Jayendra’s good work wishing him luck. Also present at the event were Tollywood biggies like Allu Aravind, Suresh Babu, Shyam Prasad Reddy, Dil Raju, Damu, Nandini Reddy, among many others.

No lip-lock with Salman

Written By moveeland on Thursday, 21 April 2011 | 8:47 am

Actress Asin is usually someone who never hesitates to speak her mind. Point out to her that reports have been making the rounds in some sections of the media that she has shot for a steamy kissing scene with Salman in “Ready” (a remake of the Telugu hit “Ready” and Tamil hit “Uthamaputhiran”) and will be donning a bikini in “Housefull 2,” and all that you get in return is a laugh.
Says she, “I am quite amused by these rumours. I am glad that people who know me do not believe such trash. “Ready” is a family entertain
er and there are no intimate scenes or lip-locks in the film. Sorry to disappoint you, but the bikini news is someone’s fertile imagination and not the truth either!”
Ask her about being Salman’s blue-eyed girl and she says, “Yes, I am fond of Salman. He is a sweetheart. I was unwell and was running a high fever while shooting for the climax portions of “Ready”, and he was the one who would remind me to take my medicines. He would make sure that I have proper food on time.”

WATCH OUT, ITEM GIRLS

For the first time in her career, Rani Mukerji will do a hot disco number

Prithwish Ganguly

Rani Mukerji is certainly having fun. On the one hand, she has delivered a hard-hitting performance in her last film and on the other, she is gearing up for some matkas and jhatkas in the “Housefull” sequel. Yes, for the first time in her career, the actress will be seen in an item song. Even though she is a fantastic dancer, for some reason, she has stayed away from item songs so far in her career. However, she isn’t ready to talk about it. A trained Odissi dancer, Rani says, “As of now, this is hearsay and I’d like to leave it at that. I have really not done an item number in my career, but I’m open to it. Doing it totally depends on how the song is being presented and if it excites me. I love dancing and I think such special songs have a lot of energy. It’s fun to see and shoot.” So will this number be choreo
graphed by Vaibhavi Merchant, who is a close friend of Rani and has directed her dance moves in “Bunty Aur Babli” and “Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic”? We’ll keep you posted.
Now Dadasaheb Phalke award for the actress

After collecting every other award in the country for her performance in “No One Killed Jessica”, Rani will soon add the Dada Saheb Phalke Academy Award to her collection. She confirms, “I’m happy that people have loved my film and my work. I have always let my work do the talking and I guess I have proved to my critics that I’m not over. It’s a great feeling to be back winning awards. The past three years had been challenging because I didn’t have box office success behind me. People forget the body of work, and the amount of blood and sweat that you put in for years and write you off, so I’m very happy to get this prestigious award.”

Ram & Samantha together

The duo has been roped in to star in Gautham Menon’s next romantic flick

Prashanth Bhat and Suresh Kavirayani

After the resounding success of “Ye Maaya Cheesave”, director Gautham Menon is working on another breezy, romantic entertainer. While actress Samantha, who made a dream debut with Menon, is all set to play his lucky charm this time around too, it is actor Ram who has hit jackpot with a lead role in this flick. AR Rahman, who has been roped in by Menon, has already composed two tracks for this movie, that will hit the floors in May.
Ram, whose last flick released almost a year ago, has been shooting for “Kandireega”, with Hansika Motwani. Despite big hits at a very early stage of his career, his last two movies haven’t really set the Box Office on fire. He is now elated to be working with Gautham Menon, whose last film, propelled Nagachaitanya to star status. Ram’s uncle, filmmaker Sravanti Ravikishore, will co-produce the movie. “The opportunity to work with the likes of Rahman and Menon is like a dream come true. I am super excited,” the actor said.
    Samantha too couldn’t be happi
er to be working with the director again in this film, to be produced by Bellamkonda. “Gautam Menon narrated an excellent and thrilling story and we are all excited about it,” said Bellamkonda, who is right now wrapping up the shooting of his film, “Kandireega” with Ram.
