When Amitabh Bachchan posted a Rajinikanth joke on his micro-blogging page he must not have realized that it would hurt the sentiments of Rajini’s fans.

It all started when Rajinikanth jokes took the world by storm after the release of his blockbuster 'Robot'.

The 'Rajini jokes' which became a bit passé came back in demand after the South film industry's demi god attended India Sri Lanka Cricket World Cup final in Mumbai.

'Sachin Tendulkar's mother's name is Rajni Tendulkar & 'The match was watching Rajini' were few of the Rajini jokes which again started doing the rounds.

Rajni already watched the match live in his dream last night and now watching highlights is the other joke circulated.

Various actors have sent and enjoyed Rajini jokes before and the latest to find them amusing just like majority of us was Amitabh Bachchan.

Amitabh Bachchan shared one of the Rajini jokes he received on his phone on his micro-blogging site infuriating few of Rajini fans.

"Someone sent me this on mobile - "When Graham Bell invented the telephone, he found two missed calls from Rajnikant !" Brilliant" tweeted Bachchan.

Within minutes of posting this Rajini joke, several of his fans objected to it and many felt that it was done deliberately to disgrace the Superstar. The Big B immediately realized the mistake he had committed and clarified that the joke was posted to let the world know how powerful Rajini is.

Amitabh elaborated that such jokes imply the importance of Rajinikanth and the high esteem that he has in the society. He, however, regretted having hurt the sentiments of Rajini fans by posting the joke unwittingly.
